Recap: Kyrie, Cavs Pull Out Close One vs Nets

A much anticipated season opener for the new-look Brooklyn Nets didn't turn out how they wanted. As the Cavaliers defeated the Nets, 98-94. Brooklyn started off great. Jumping out to a 12-2 lead. The Cavaliers settled in and from the second quarter on they led for much the remainder of the game.

Throughout the game the Nets struggled to get stops. Their defense was not on point. Nets fans shouldn't overreact because this is Game 1 out of 82. Plenty of time to develop chemistry.

Kyrie Irving totaled 15 points and added 9 assists, hitting a couple clutch free throws late. Tristian Thompson added 18 points and 9 boards. Also, Andrew Bynum appeared in his first game in two years logging 8 minutes and scoring 3 points.

For the Nets, Lopez led the way with 21. Pierce added 17 on 5/8 shooting. Terry with 14, Johnson with 13, & Garnett added 8 points and 10 boards. Deron Williams had 7 points and 9 assists on 2/6 shooting. The question on most Nets fans mind was, "Why was D-Will on the bench for the whole 4th quarter?" I'm guessing it was a minutes restriction.

Nets have a day off before hosting the defending champ Miami Heat for their season opener Friday night 8 ET on ESPN.
